    Dissapointed

    By Swartkat

    About Me

    Comments:

I bought the original TICKR a few years ago and have been using it with great success. I recently started long-distance swimming training and decided to get the TICKR X because it is waterproof and is supposedly able to measure your heart rate whilst swimming. Unfortunately, this has not been the case and I am very bitterly disappointed.

Product works, UI for wahoo fitness is awful

    By Davie

    About Me

    Comments:

The Tickr x itself works fine. On a button battery with a front closure the Tickr x is not at all difficult to use. Its lights' easily communicate to you wether or not it thinks it's in use and/or connected to your phone. (Not that you could do anything if it wern't but knowing is nice.) I have worn the thing doing laps at the pool and running on a treadmill doing floor work as well as generally biking around town. It works to record heartrate in the pool but does little else due to the issue of bluetooth communication over a distance greater than aprox 2 metres. When it works online even it's better because the screen will display your heartrate for instant feedback. It took me some attempts to understand how I was pausing my phone communication mid workout untill I understood the lockscreen feature. It is lovely. On a treadmill cadance and speed are unreliable. The real problem with a product is that the user interface. There are 3 apps by wahoo, but its unclear which app should be used, and they don't seem to communicate with each other. The rep counting that I was so excited about also does not seem to be a thing for floor excercises like lunges and squats. Admittedly I was/am a fitness tracker person. Which wahoo is not, it is not for constant use, use during sleep,it is not for use for anything but use during excercise. But the graphs provided by wahoo are pictures without a time scale and while that information can be found elsewhere it isnt available for quick reference. The graph tells me my min and max hr and the amount of time doing cardio, fat burn etc. But thats it. Profiles also need to be on an axis of time that can be zoomed in thereby being more specific to what my heartrate is when. Back to back workouts cannot be viewed continuously either (as a fitness tracker would) If I worked out 3 times in a day I would also want to see the three workouts in their places on a 24 hour timeframe like the fitness tracker graphs like withings. Additionally while my would allow be to say that my 30 minute workout was cycling and running, the wahoo fitness can only fo so with a new workout. The fitness profiles need to modifiable after the fact. Such as a workout for cycling should be able to be separated into biking, rest, and running. The different graphs should be overlappable so I can see their comparisons. But they're not theyre all displayed seperatly with their own mix and max but without information of how far into the workout they occour so the peaks of eack graph cannot be reliably compared. The tracker should also have a "marker" system where pushing the tracker puts a line on the graph so consious changes in speed or activity can be marked for the users use. But it has none of these functions yet so it is unclear to me what I really use it for sometimes when fitness trackers do so much more.

    Accurate heart rate monitor

    By Otter

    About Me

    Comments:

The TickrX heart rate monitor is accurate not only for steady state exercise like running or rowing, but for exercise that involves a sudden, intense effort, like weight lifting. Since that was the reason I got it, I am quite satisfied.

    Great Tool Bad Snaps

    By Trstormcat

    from Lexington, KY, United States

    About Me

    Comments:

I have been using Wahoo items for quite some time now. This is an AMAZING tool to use. I use this HR Monitor for every sport I do! One flaw I did find, when moving quickly (when I spar with it) the snaps come undone...every single time. Perhaps next time, have a strap with a hook and not the device itself.

    Great

    By Shanzer

    About Me

    Comments:

Great product but the app has a problem where if you have mistakenly picked the wrong exercise and then started your workout e.g. Spin bike and then you are actually doing a run on a treadmill it won't allow you to edit this after the workout has begun or when the workout has been finished and saved...

    Works well

    By Adwiz

    from Vancouver, BC, Canada

    About Me

    Comments:

I replaced my old Wahoo Blue HR monitor with this one because the Blue HR doesn't support Ant+ which I need for Zwift. It works well. My only concern is that, like the Blue HR, there is no "on/off" switch so the battery can keep draining even after you take it off, thus reducing battery life. The Blue HR went through batteries in a ridiculously short time. It's still too early to tell how the TICKR compares.

    Great when it works

    By 9shorerd

    About Me

    Comments:

I bought this to replace my previous TICKR -- I haven't yet used the X features, so can't comment on that. But -- in the month I've had it, I've had several rides where my Strava app told me it had a connection but when I look at the HR data it wasn't getting real HR data. That's never happened with my TICKR, and I haven't yet figured out why it happens sometimes with this one. Otherwise, it's great, really helps me focus my training.

Great for the first 8 months.....

    By Charlie_Girl

    from Saint John, NB, Canada

    About Me

    Comments:

I LOVED this HR monitor for the first 8 months and ever since it has been nothing but a pain. I keep attempting to use it because I spent the money on it but it rarely works now. It will show a signal on my phone in the app but won't give any of the values (ie HR), will shut off after a few minutes, and won't record device free workouts anymore to name a few problems. I have attempted replacing the batteries twice and resetting the device and still nothing. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if it is the device but this broke university student certainly wasted her money. :(
