I first purchased the Aeon as a replacement for another helmet that was old and just worn out. I was sold on its performance in keeping me cool during long rides in Iowa summers. I was also very thankful for the incredible engineering that went into this helmet as it probably saved me from some serious medical bills. I crashed out on a ride and hit the ground pretty hard. The helmet took the brunt of the impact. I cracked four of the braces and I walked away from the crash with just the typical road rash. Thanks Giro for the incredible helmet!! I'm already riding with the replacement. I highly recommend this helmet.
After a recent cycling mishap left me with two fractured ribs, pneumothorax, and three days in the hospital, I count myself extremely fortunate by not incurring a serious head injury. While my Giro Aeon suffered three breaks in the shell, it remained intact and absorbed the impact in magnificent fashion. I am heading to [...] today to purchase a replacement.
